Few chairs invite you to sit quite like the F510. Designed by Geoffrey Harcourt for Artifort in the 1960s, it wraps around you with the kind of enveloping comfort that makes standing up feel like an act of willpower.
The proportions are generous but never clumsy. A high back curves gently forward, creating a sheltered cocoon that blocks peripheral distractions and encourages contemplation. The swivel base allows the chair to follow your gaze, rotating smoothly on its axis with the precision that Artifort's engineering department was known for. Every angle reveals a slightly different character.
This particular F510 has been professionally reupholstered in wool by Ploeg, the Dutch textile manufacturer whose fabrics have been the first choice for Artifort upholstery since the company's founding. The result is a chair that looks fresh and contemporary while retaining all the tactile warmth of natural wool.
Harcourt, a British designer who found his creative home at Artifort, created the F510 as part of a series of chairs that explored the relationship between the human body and sculptural form. His collaboration with Artifort, spanning decades, produced some of the most recognisable seating designs of the twentieth century.
In a living room, a study, or a corner that needs an anchor, the F510 delivers something increasingly rare in modern interiors: a chair that is genuinely, deeply comfortable without sacrificing an ounce of visual elegance.
