Inquire about this piece

There's something primal about this brutalist bronze table lamp. Not the polished, precious kind of bronze, but bronze worked like stone — hammered and cast into deep relief that catches the light like canyon walls at sunset. It is the kind of object that announces itself before it is ever switched on, and rewards you the longer you live with it.

The base is a single solid casting, its surface broken into geometric patterns that feel ancient and modern at once. Cityscape? Abstract ruins? The beauty is that you decide. Run your hand over it and the texture turns almost archaeological — ridges and valleys that form their own miniature landscape, no two angles quite the same.

The patina has settled into those depths, giving the bronze a warmth that new metal can never fake. The proportions are pure 1970s: substantial but never clumsy, sculptural yet still entirely functional. Above it, a cream linen shade softens the raw bronze below, balancing brutalist edge with the kind of glow you actually want to read beside. This example is in good condition, with only minor, honest signs of age.

Brutalism moved out of concrete architecture and into the home through the 1960s and 70s, and Italian makers embraced it with particular relish — turning heavy, honest materials into objects of real presence. There is no maker's mark here, which is typical for these architectural pieces, but the quality of the casting and the sheer heft of the bronze tell you everything you need to know about the craftsmanship. It sits comfortably alongside the rest of our vintage design lighting, or a sculptural counterpart like our brutalist oak blanket chest.

Like every piece at Vintz, it was hand-picked for character and condition rather than restored, then shipped worldwide in a custom wooden crate, fully insured. Set it on a console, a sideboard, or a leaning stack of art books, and it does what the best brutalist design always does — it quietly anchors the whole room, and looks better for every year it stays there.
