Turin, 1960. The city that gave the world Fiat, Lavazza, and some of the most daring furniture of the twentieth century. These armchairs emerge directly from that creative hotbed, designed by Franco Campo and Carlo Graffi under their legendary Home label, which operated from 1952 to 1964.

The influence of their mentor Carlo Mollino is unmistakable. Note the skeletal, aerodynamic legs that seem to defy gravity, the organic curves of the wooden frame that suggest both feminine form and aircraft engineering. This was the Turinese school at its most ambitious: furniture as sculpture, function dissolved into art. The wood structure is complex, warm, and alive with the kind of craftsmanship that demanded both artistic vision and technical mastery.

Recently reupholstered to pristine condition, the dark fabric provides a striking contrast to the intricate wooden framework. The mohair and cotton blend has a tactile richness that complements the sculptural warmth of the wood. The overall condition is excellent, with only minor signs of use consistent with pieces that have been carefully maintained for over six decades.

Campo and Graffi's Home label produced furniture for just twelve years, making authenticated examples increasingly rare. Their work represents a perfect synthesis of artistic ambition and artisanal mastery, bridging the gap between the avant-garde experiments of Mollino and the more industrial approach that would come to dominate Italian design in the later 1960s.

These chairs are rare survivors from a brief, explosive period of Italian design history. In a contemporary interior, they bring not just beauty and comfort, but a direct connection to one of the most creatively charged moments in twentieth-century furniture.
