The Brionvega Algol 11" is an iconic portable television designed in 1964 by Italian designers Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper for the Italian electronics company Brionvega.Some key features of the Algol 11":

  •  It had an innovative and futuristic design for its time, with a rounded shape and a screen slightly tilted upwards.

  •  It was made of colored plastic (ABS) and used transistors, which was innovative at the time.

  •  The organic shape, particularly the slanted front ending in the screen, made it possible to view the TV even when placed on the floor.

  •  Zanuso compared the design to a faithful dog looking up at its owner.

  •  It had a metal handle and was available in various colors such as orange, black, and gray.

  •  The dimensions were 27.5 x 26.1 x 35.8 cm and it weighed 7.5 kg.

The Algol 11" is considered a milestone in industrial design and is included in the collections of prestigious museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. It symbolizes the innovative Italian design style of the 1960s.Over the years, Brionvega has released various versions and updates of the Algol, but the original concept has always been maintained. In 1998, a regenerated version was produced that is still available, albeit with modernized electronics.The Algol 11" is seen as a collector's item and design icon that transformed the television from a static piece of furniture into a portable and stylish device.
